Algeria and Libya Petroleum System Modelling Studies

GEOS4 offers two new 2D Petroleum System Modelling studies, covering transects of the Berkine/Ghadames Basin in eastern Algeria and the Jabal Nafusah Area, NW Libya. The models are based on the main source rocks in these areas: the `hot shales` of the Silurian Tanezzuft Formation and the Frasnian shales. Geological evolution, source rock maturity and the timing of petroleum expulsion are all addressed.

Source rock kinetics are critical key input parameters in Petroleum System Modelling studies. Therefore, both GEOS4 studies implement a variability of Silurian source rock kinetics. Additionally, we use simple bulk kinetics as well as compositional kinetics (14 components). Differences and similarities in terms of different kinetics assignments are explained. Multi-component kinetics have been established using GEOS4´s exclusive PhaseKinetics approach, and models were calculated using PetroMod 2014 software.

Please get in touch for details of the studies.
