Maturity and Mass Balance Modelling

Access to geochemical data (TOC, Rock Eval, vitrinite reflectance) allows original source rock TOC and petroleum potential to be reconstructed, and thus enables a full mass balance of the study area to be made with respect to masses of generated, retained and expelled petroleum.

Using representative immature samples we can predict petroleum type, phase state and physical properties (GOR; API gravity) which are of special interest in highlighting areas of enhanced liquid potential, using our PhaseKinetic approach. Kinetic parameters for oil-to-gas cracking and late gas generation also assist in constructing regional petroleum system zonations.

The geologic evolution of the basin, addressing timing and extent of burial and maturation as well as inversion and erosion, can be reconstructed using Petroleum System Modelling. Here exemplary proprietary or public geologic cross sections, well data or maps can be used.
