Quickcheck 2023

QuickCheck – in a nutshell

Thermal Analyses

         Bulk kinetics

  • Conventional and unconventional plays at the regional scale
  • Require low maturity rock (5g), or black oil (3ml)
  • Site-specific tuning
  • Provides timing of petroleum generation, implemented using basin models
  • Turnaround time: typically 3 weeks after sample received

         Gas sorption screening

  • Screening tool based on thermovaporisation for selecting samples from shale profiles for classical petrophysical analysis
  • Requires 1g shale
  • Turnaround time: typically 4 weeks after sample received

         Pyrolysis gas chromatography

  • Conventional and unconventional plays at the regional scale
  • Requires 1g shale
  • Provides organofacies, bulk petroleum types
  • Turnaround time: typically 4 weeks after sample received

PhaseKinetics (primary cracking)

  • Pre-drill GOR and PVT prediction for conventionals
  • Conventional and unconventional plays at the regional scale
  • Require low maturity rock (5g), or black oil (3ml)
  • Site-specific tuning.
  • Predicts changing petroleum compositions during generation, implemented using basin models.
  • 2-compound, 4-compound and 14-compound models are all provided, facilitating the compatibility of data during farm-outs and farm-ins.
  • Turnaround time: typically 8-10 weeks after sample received

GORfit kinetics (primary and secondary cracking)

  • Oil-to-gas cracking kinetics for conventionals and shale plays
  • Require source rock (5g) or crude oil (3ml)
  • Based on 39 MSSV experiments at 3 different heating rates
  • Turnaround time: typically 8-10 weeks after sample received

PhaseSnapShots

  • Production fractionation – PVT for shale plays
  • Shale plays at the reservoir/well scale
  • Require shale whose maturity is just below that of target shale
  • Predicts in-situ petroleum composition and phase characteristics
  • Integrated with PVT report data on produced fluids to provide recovery assessment
  • Turnaround time: typically 4 weeks after sample received

Polar NSO compounds geochemistry

  • Production fractionation – polars
  • Characterises low and very high molecular weight polars (resins and asphaltenes) in whole oils and whole rock extracts
  • Insights into movable versus non-movable oil within, and in fluids produced from, shales and/or expulsion efficiencies in different shale plays
  • Require source and reservoir intervals (5g), produced fluids (3ml)
  • Turnaround time: typically 10 weeks after sample received

Quick Bound Biomarkers QBB

  • Same parameters as are standard for free biomarkers
  • Oil correlation for exploration and production tracing
  • Based on whole rock or petroleum asphaltenes
  • Requires source or reservoir rock (5g), and/or black oil (3ml)
  • Alleviates problems caused by OBM and biodegradation
  • Turnaround time: typically 8-10 weeks after sample received
